Coat Collection Warm Welcome Space

Published: 25 November 2022

In November we opened our Station Booking Hall for Warm Welcome Spaces. Around the UK, many households are struggling with the cost of living, often having to make the decision between feeding their family or turning the heating on. Due to this, Councils have been taking the initiative to set up ‘signposts’ for public places that cater to families.

After putting an appeal out to our local community, we have been overwhelmed with the generosity from people donating coats in all shapes and sizes. Although we don't have much space at our Station, we have been placing large amounts of these donated coats to places such as Loaves & Fishes foodbank at St John the Baptist Church to reach more people who might need a coat or two. It's been a warm Autumn so far, however the cold of winter can crop up at any time so it's best to be prepared.

There is a huge selection of coats available for free at our Warm Welcome Spaces every Monday 9am - 12pm. Our volunteers who help run the space are happy to help if you need a person to chat through your worries or spend some time out of your house. If you know of anyone who might need a coat, please pass on our contact or location to them.
